Home / Museum of the Futur
Strategically located along Sheikh Zayed Road, the Museum of the Future is a landmark achievement in architecture, technology, and cultural foresight. Inaugurated on 22 February 2022 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the museum exemplifies Dubai’s commitment to shaping the future today.
Designed by Killa Design and engineered by Buro Happold, the torus-shaped structure rises 77 meters above a landscaped podium. Encompassing 30,548 m², the building is clad in 1,024 uniquely fabricated stainless steel panels, created through advanced robotic and parametric techniques. A column-free diagrid of 2,400 beams ensures structural integrity.
Adorning the façade are over 700 words of Arabic calligraphy, drawn from Sheikh Mohammed’s poetry and crafted by Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej. These inscriptions serve as functional windows by day and glow with over 14 km of LED lighting by night.
LEED Platinum certified, the museum integrates a range of environmentally responsible systems. These include solar panels generating up to 4,000 MW, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, a green roof, and a smart building management system overseeing lighting, energy, and climate control.
Spanning seven levels, the museum delivers immersive, future-focused experiences:
Additional facilities include an auditorium, research labs, classrooms, and multi-functional event spaces accommodating over 1,000 attendees.
The Museum of the Future is more than an exhibition space—it is a catalyst for innovation. It hosts key programs such as the Dubai Future Forum and the Great Arab Minds initiative, fostering regional and international collaboration. Startups and thought leaders are supported through accelerators, workshops, and conferences focused on AI, sustainability, and smart cities.
Named one of the “14 Most Beautiful Museums in the World” by National Geographic, the structure symbolizes a bold convergence of art, engineering, and philosophy. Architect Shaun Killa refers to it as a “living building,” with its algorithm-driven design and symbolic toroidal form representing the interconnectedness of humanity, Earth, and the unknown future.
